VIP Lounge – Bloggers Station
Last week I was privileged to be part of the first Whistler Film Festival VIP Gift Lounge, located in the beautiful Westin Resort and Spa.
The event was organized by Gabrielle Durning of Uptown GiftBox Company , which had a select guest list of VIP’s including Film Makers, Celebrities and Media. The event was invitation only, and Whistler24 were chosen as one of the 5 Bloggers to participate in the Charity Bloggers Station during the day.

Myself and Amber Turnau from Whistler24 @whistler24 were in attendance along with:
Maryanne Lechleiter of Stimuli @stimuli
Cole & Jakob of Nordica Photography @nordicaphoto
Eileen from Enterprising Mom’s Network @fraservalleyemn
And the Bloggers from The Whistler Film Festival @whisfilmfest and Tourism Whistler joined in throughout the day @mywhistler
The blogger station was located at the door of the venue, to check out all the VIP’s as they entered and picked up the gift bags. Although the bloggers station got off to a rough start due to a few internet glitches, the tweets, articles and photos were flowing. Its great to see technology, events and the media integrated in this way, to provide live updates, for everyone to see.
With social media developing like it is we should see more of this in the next couple of years, Whistler24 intends to be at the forefront of this new wave of social media and social event integration by providing rich live content on the website.
The room was only a small intimate venue, not the same scale as the other Uptown GiftBox Events, the room had a rustic vibe, there were display tables all around the room, displaying products from all the local companies that Sponsored the event. Each sponsor provided a product to giveaway in the gift bags which were given out to the VIP’s. (worth over $1000) Each Blogger got the privilege of taking away a gift bag and donating it to a Charity of their choice. Whistler24 has chosen to support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Gabrielle of the Uptown GiftBox Company has a passion for local, independent businesses which can be seen throughout the gifts that are provided in the gift bag. All the companies are unique, local and eco friendly.
Free nibbles and drinks were provided throughout the day to all VIP’s. We even had a Golden-doodle Lounge mascot.
Overall it was a great experience to be invited to get involved with the Charity Bloggers Lounge and get live event coverage out to the viewers.
